The Steam annual review, Steam Replay, is here, and you can check out your personal gaming statistics over the year.
On a larger scale, there are some interesting figures as well. As spotted by PC Gamer, Steam players spent only 15% of their overall playing time in brand-new games that were released this year. Almost half of the time, specifically 47%, players dedicated to the games that launched in the last one to seven years. Also, 37% of playing time Steam users spent on the games that had been released eight years ago or earlier.
According to the statistics on SteamDB, the most played games include all-time beloved titles such as Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2, along with more recently released favorites PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS (2017) and NARAKA: BLADEPOINT (2021). The newest 2024 releases, such as Path of Exile 2 and Marvel Rivals, also made it to the top six most-played titles.
A few of the most popular games this year were the long-anticipated Deadlock and Black Myth: Wukong. Valve's Deadlock launched in test mode and immediately started breaking popularity records despite limited access. It gained almost 90,000 concurrent players on the reveal day and reached over 106,000 concurrent players and over 860,000 wishlists a week later.
Valve
Black Myth: Wukong received over 1.4 million players a few hours after its launch and became the most popular single-player game on its release day. The game even contributed to the development of tourism in China, attracting players to its real-life locations.
