Monte Gallo started experimenting with photogrammetry meshes for their new game, Better Than Dead.
Monte Gallo, an indie game developer working on several projects, showcased a sneak peek at one of the titles called Better Than Dead and shared some technical insights into its creation.
The animation is a WIP, and the game's release date has not yet been disclosed. As stated in the X/Twitter post, the artist started experimenting with photogrammetry meshes. According to the creator, it works well in-game and adds an extra layer of realism. If you are interested in the process of photogrammetry, check out our interview with Texture Artist Max Kutsenko, who explained how he transformed photos of bark into a 3D texture using RealityCapture and ArtEngine.
Better Than Dead is a brutal FPS, full of betrayal, loss, and grievances. The game features an immersive and atmospheric narrative set against the backdrop of a photorealistic Hong Kong with cinematic visuals.
