This AI-Boosted Tool Can Extract Lighting From Images & Add It to UE5 Environments

Alex Leiva has showcased Reverie, an upcoming world creation tool for Unreal Engine set to be launched later this year.

Even though it is now a common consensus among the digital art and game development communities that all things AI are the spawn of the devil and should be shunned, every once in a while a new project appears on the horizon that not only proves that AI-powered tools can co-exist with the already-established workflows but can also boost them and make the production pipeline ten times as convenient.

One such tool was recently showcased by Developer Alex Leiva, who shared an absolutely mind-blowing demo showcasing the capabilities of Reverie, an AI worldbuilding tool for Unreal Engine that can recognize, extract, and categorize lighting, visual effects, and even the soundscape of images and implement them into 3D environments and game levels in UE4 and UE5 in just a few minutes.

As shown in the demo, the tool only needs one photo and some tweaking for you to be able to change the lighting and atmosphere of your UE-powered scenes. To better explain how the tool works, the developer also shared a list of actors that Reverie can extract, promising to publish a more comprehensive tutorial closer to the tool's release:
