The Bethesda director says the exclusivity allowed the team to better focus on optimization.
Todd Howard believes that the exclusivity of Starfield for Xbox and PC has been beneficial for the game. The game director thinks it allowed the studio to have more focus on optimizing the product.

The director believes that collaborating with Xbox allowed them to create a game that people can easily access referring to the release of the RPG on Game Pass at launch. The designer also expects the launch of Starfield to be more significant than previous Bethesda games.
Howard added that certain game brands are associated with specific devices and there's nothing wrong with that. To give an example, Howard mentioned the Zelda series and the Nintendo Switch console.
"You know this is the hardware or the thing people are playing on, so the ability to focus on that always yields a better product. You do want people to be able to access it of course. But being with Xbox means there is an ease of access for us and I'm told we're expecting more people playing this launch than anything we've ever done before and that's despite the success of our previous games," said Howard. "I do also think people attach brands to certain games. When you think of Zelda you think of the Switch and I think there are times when that can be a real benefit."
