A Weapon Simulator With True-To-Life Aiming Mechanics & Highly Accurate Ballistic Calculations

Reddit user elbriga14, aka solo developer and Senior Technical Artist Tic Tac Toe Digital, has shared the reveal trailer of their personal project created with Unreal Engine 5 - Ballistic.exe. 

“Ballistic.exe is an advanced weapon simulator, with challenging true-to-life aiming mechanics, full weapon manipulation and customization, and highly accurate ballistic calculations,” reads the game’s description. 

The whole program was recovered from the archives of a Soviet-era research task force, which is now public and accessible to all. Starting the program means you’ll be accessing a unique and realistic shooting experience. The game offers four degrees of freedom aiming and you can use both the mouse and WASD keys to aim your weapon on two axes. 

Weapons could be very customized according to your own likes, as there are hundreds of parts to be adopted, “including stocks, triggers, grips, sights, scopes, handles, bolts, barrels, hammers, cylinders, red dots, lasers, silencers, and more.” Every component plays a role in the weapon's balance, weight, and ergonomics, and can greatly impact its performance.

The accurate ballistics offer an immersive experience that resembles reality. Bullet speed is determined by the cartridge charge, barrel length, and bullet type. Bullets are influenced by gravity, wind, humidity, temperature, and rain. Their flight is impacted by their shape, size, material, and spin. Each weapon can use various types of cartridges. 

As you enjoy this shooting simulator featuring manga art style, don't forget to look for and decipher a “true message” by breaking the game to access concealed areas, which could be “bizzare secrets” to be discovered. 

Elbriga shared that the project, which they had been working on during free time for years, was partly inspired by watching firearms expert Jonathan Ferguson playing Escape From Tarkov.
