An Indie First-Person Puzzle-Platformer Inspired By Portal & Animal Well

The Conundrum: Helix is scheduled to be released later this year.

If you like puzzle platformers such as Valve's Portal, here is another upcoming indie game with eerie vibes, inspired by Portal, The Witness, and Animal Well.

Created by French game developer Nogam using Unreal Engine, The Conundrum: Helix has you explore a worn-out temple from a first-person perspective, looking for something mysterious to retrieve it. That's all information for you — the less info, the more curiosity. "Levers to pull, buttons to press, crates to move, accompanied by the sounds of clicking gears."

The Conundrum: Helix is the remake of Conundrum, a game jam project that finally evolves into a bigger work with more mechanisms, better voice acting, enhanced graphics, reworked and expanded puzzles, and lots of new exclusive playable content.

The attention to detail is hard to ignore — the clouds of dust when placing the crate, the sparks when pulling the lever, the realistic simulation of water going shallow, and so on.

In other Reddit posts, we can have a peek at the game's level, atmosphere, and some of the puzzles:

The development of The Conundrum: Helix seems to start not long ago, and Nogam has a plan to release it in 2025. If you find it interesting, don't hesitate to add it to your wishlist on Steam
