Autodesk Launches Maya 2024.1 & Maya Creative 2024.1

You'll get the Time Slider enhancements, Skin Cluster improvements, and updates to LookdevX.

Autodesk has released Maya 2024.1 and Maya Creative 2024.1.

The new Maya version introduces improvements to its Time Slider – it is now easier to drag cursors to move the selection as you no longer need to click directly on the icon. In addition, you can now press Ctrl to copy when moving or scaling selected keys, making copy-paste workflows easier.

There are enhancements brought to Skin Cluster as well. A new Unbind All checkbox in the Unbind Skin options lets you select which skin clusters to unbind. The Bake Deformer tool now supports multiple skin clusters. Additionally, the Colorize skeleton option has been restored to the Bake Deformer tool so that bound skeletons and their skin vertices are the same color.

Moreover, you can delete multiple layers in the Display Layer Editor using an option in the right-click context menu. This feature speeds up workflows for any artist who works with many layers at once.

LookdevX also got updates to organize complex node graphs and improve workflows. Backdrop support and the ability to create tabs have been added to the Graph Editor, Auto expand for node attributes has been enabled. Other changes include the possibility to expand or collapse a port by left-clicking it, edit node names from the Parameters panel or the node, hide ports on a compound, and more.

There is also a new Proximity Wrap deformer attribute, Lattice deformer option, support for Bifrost 2.7.0.1 and Hydra for Maya.

Maya Creative, the pay-as-you-go version of the software, has the same updates minus Bifrost.

Maya 2024.1 is available for $235/month, or $1,875/year, while Maya Creative's prices start at $3/day.
