Bandai Namco Shows Trailer for Action RPG Based on Akira Toriyama's Manga

Sand Land gets a lot of attention 23 years after the original release.

Bandai Namco has released a trailer for Sand Land – an upcoming action RPG based on the manga of the same name by Akira Toriyama, the artist behind Dragon Ball and Chrono Trigger.

"Dive into a desert world where both humans and demons suffer from an extreme water shortage – SAND LAND. Meet the Fiend Prince Beelzebub, his chaperone Thief, and the fearless Sheriff Rao, and follow the team in an extraordinary adventure in search of the Legendary Spring hidden in the desert."

In Sand Land, you play as Beelzebub trying to learn how to control your demonic powers. Leading a group of misfits, you'll get to explore this colorful world, fight giant monsters, drive bizarre vehicles, and turn your base into a whole city, bringing back water to the land.

This is a story about friendship and justice where you get to design and upgrade battle tanks, motorbikes, and jump-bots. It will be released for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5.

The original manga by Toriyama was released in 2000 and it has recently received a lot of attention. Aside from the game, it has been adapted into anime with an original net animation (ONA) series coming to Disney+ in Q2 2024.
