Patch Creator illusion showcased 60 FPS PS5 versions of Bloodborne, Red Dead Redemption 2, Shadow of the Colossus, and Gravity Rush 2.
For years, fans of FromSoftware's games have eagerly awaited news about updates to Bloodborne. They've held and still hold out hope for a potential PC release, a remastered edition, or even a version for the PlayStation 5, given that the game currently only runs on the PS4.
Recently, an individual known only as illusion, a renowned Patch Creator and Modder, has seemingly grown impatient with the wait. They've now revealed an unofficial but functional method to play Bloodborne on the PS5 console, achieving an impressive 60 frames per second.
In a showcased demo lasting about two minutes, illusion takes us through Central Yharnam, demonstrating the game running seamlessly at the coveted 60 FPS in 1080p on a hacked PlayStation 5. According to illusion, this achievement was made possible by utilizing Lance McDonald's Bloodborne patch, a fact that has been confirmed by McDonald himself. Furthermore, illusion revealed that their customized version of Bloodborne runs on PS5 with firmware versions ranging from 3.00 to 4.51.
"Illusion has done it! My Bloodborne 60fps patch has been ported to run within the current state of PlayStation 5 hacking/exploitation," commented McDonald on Twitter. "Real retail PS5 hardware running Bloodborne at locked 60fps in full 1080p."
Besides Bloodborne, illusion has also run Red Dead Redemption 2, Shadow of the Colossus, and Gravity Rush 2 on PS5 at 60 FPS, showcasing the results with videos and screenshots. You can check out the results attached below or by visiting the author's Twitter page:
Besides the PS5 version of Bloodborne, fans are also eagerly waiting for a PC port. Just yesterday, we reported that the developers of the RPCSX emulator, a PS4 emulator for PC, managed to boot Bloodborne on PC for the first time ever.
