CD PROJEKT RED Is Planning New Animation

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners' success influenced the studio's ideas.

Netflix

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was such a great hit that it brought a new audience to Cyberpunk 2077, as well as those who had been disappointed in the game when it launched. CD PROJEKT RED even added some content based on the anime to its RPG shooter.

Fans want to see the story continue in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2, and although CDPR said there were no plans for it back in 2022, you should not be discouraged. At the studio's recent earnings call, its co-CEO Michał Nowakowski said CDPR intends to "do more in terms of animation. Expect to see more for sure, but that’s as far as I can go right now" (via IGN.)

I think The Witcher would be nice to see as an animated series, but I assume we won't hear much about this mysterious project for some time because CDPR is busy with The Witcher 4 (codenamed Polaris) and Cyberpunk 2 (a.k.a. Orion). Polaris will soon enter the "full-fledged production phase," but most likely, it will not be released until 2026. There are fewer updates on the Cyberpunk sequel, but we know it will be powered by Unreal Engine 5 and might have multiplayer elements.
