Convince Residents to Trade Homes for Parking Lot in This City Builder

We invade animals' valuable habitat, and the car parking lots take out the space where we should live. Karma.

Car Park Capital is a city builder developed by Netherlands-based game developer, Janssen. It is a typical city building simulation but has its unique feature to make it different than the rest of the SIM games.

In Car Park Capital, you're tasked with designing and constructing the grandest car parks the simple town life has never experienced before. Space is limited, so you'll have to turn neighborhoods into car parks and use propaganda to persuade people of its necessity.

However, convincing people to willingly give up their homes for parking spaces is no easy task. That's where your propaganda skills come into play. But be warned, not everyone will be easily convinced. Those who see through your tactics could prove to be roadblocks, and you may need to deal with them to keep your project on track.

In fact, the game found its inspiration from propaganda promoting car usage. According to a report by PC Gamer, Janssen was influenced by a video titled "Give Yourself the Green Light," a pro-car promotional film by General Motors from 70 years ago. The film proposed massive road projects that, in reality, displaced thousands of residents - mainly people of color - and did little to solve traffic issues.

"After watching 'Give Yourself the Green Light,' however, I realized the game could also take a more satirical turn since the reality in some places is actually quite bizarre."

Janssen noted that he wants players to face the challenge of angry citizens as they destroy homes to make way for more parking space.

"They will attack and encamp in the parking garages, drive-through restaurants and drive-in cinemas that the player originally built to keep the people satisfied. It will be a constant battle between keeping the automotive industry *and* the people satisfied." said Janssen.
