Disarm Enemies with Ki-Attacks Combos in This Japanese-Style Retro Action Game

Set to launch on August 30.

Twitter user pointnsheep, the developer behind Bloodless, has released new footage on social media, showcasing the well-equipped protagonist, Tomoe, battling enemies in their pixelated game.

Tomoe is the main character in Bloodless, a "retro-stylish action-adventure game featuring counter-based, non-lethal combat." Your mission is to aid her in confronting the ghosts of her past and putting an end to the brutal reign of her previous master, Shogun Akechi.

In line with the game's title, Tomoe does not aim to kill her enemies. Instead, she employs a mix of counters and disarming ki-attacks. The game allows you to use special ki techniques to form unique combos and define your own fighting style. Additionally, you can enhance Tomoe's abilities with crests and herb infusions found throughout the land of Bakugawa, a world isolated and scarred by the horrors of past wars.

The game unfolds a deep and emotional story, explaining Tomoe's motivations:

"Even as a coward and deserter through the eyes of her own people, ronin Tomoe returns to her former land after witnessing all the blood that a blade can shed, hoping to spark the hope and courage Bakugawa needs to fight back against its violent political methods."

Bloodless is set to launch on August 30, and a demo is available on Steam for those interested in trying it out. The recently shared footage by the developer provides insights into the game's characters and combat mechanics, and the developer's efforts into the details:
