This impressive effect is achieved using the Scene Capture 2D component in a sublevel, which essentially mimics the player's camera position and rotation relative to a fixed anchor point. It's still a work in progress, as entering the scene isn't possible yet, and the performance impact in the final build is also unknown, according to the developers.
Apparently, this setup is designed for an upcoming mode in PST Games' Darkblade Ascent, a fast-paced first-person RPG that blends the elements of soulslike and roguelike genres. In this game, you'll hack and slash your way through atmospheric dark fantasy locations, battling unique monsters and bosses with randomly generated weapons and upgrades.
