Ronin Trail is scheduled to be released in Early Access this May.
We never lack great video games that let us see how the samurai life would be in feudal Japan, which is filled with conflicts, stealth, honor, and more. But, when the war ends and a period of peace comes, what do samurais do? How do they make a living? How do they revive their lost glory and continue the legend?
These questions will be answered in Ronin Trail, an upcoming souls-like voxel adventure game with exploration elements. You're an aimless and starving samurai heading for Edo, the City of Opportunity. You can customize your character and choose the hats, clothing, and kanatas. Along the way, you'll travel through beautiful and lively environments filled with rich wildlife and vegetation in the Japanese countryside.
Survival is the basic as you become a rōnin who tries to find a purpose, so you'll need to build campfires and catch fish to cook them for food. Going north means the temperature will become lower, so make sure to put on thicker clothes to keep yourself warm. You'll also hunt animals and forage mushrooms. Keep track of the species of critters you've met with.
In the peaceful era, when combat is not the top theme, foes are still unavoidable. "Learn techniques and hone your mastery with the skill-based combat system. Challenge dojos, accept duels, and hunt down bounties on your journey to become the greatest swordsman."

The one thing in the trailer that attracts me the most is the peaceful moments and scenes - scenes of plants swaying in the wind at sunset, butterflies fluttering about, a tranquil water area with a wooden dock, and a forest bathed in sunlight where a samurai awakens from a short nap under a tree. Life in Ronin Trail is both unique and charming.
Ronin Trail is created by indie developer devpachi, who has been sharing demos on social media to give us further looks at the game's combats, gameplay, and atmosphere:
