GTA 6's 2025 Release Window Has Been Narrowed Down

The most anticipated game of all time can be expected to launch in Fall 2025.

During Take-Two Interactive's Fiscal Year 2024 earnings call, the publisher shared a much-needed update on the release window for Rockstar's highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI, announcing that the new GTA title's expected 2025 launch has been narrowed down and is now expected to take place in Fall 2025 specifically.

"As we enter Fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to deliver Net Bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion," reads the publisher's report. "Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games' previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI. We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase."

First announced in early December 2023, shortly after a leaker released a low-quality version of the announcement trailer, GTA VI is set in Vice City, Leonida, the series' version of Miami, Florida. The first teaser confirmed that the game will feature two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, who were first revealed in 2022. The aforementioned leak, however, didn't ruin the occasion, with the original trailer garnering more than 90 million views in 24 hours, beating MrBeast's previous record for the most-watched non-music video on the platform within 24 hours.

Back in March, rumors began circulating online following a report by Kotaku suggesting that the game might be delayed until as late as 2026. These rumors were subsequently addressed by Insider Gaming's Mike Straw, who claimed that the alleged postponement was nothing but fake news, citing sources who told him that the game was "on schedule."

Besides revealing GTA VI's new release window, the earnings call also disclosed that GTA V has now sold approximately 200 million copies, accounting for nearly half of the entire franchise's sales numbers. As it stands, the fifth installment in the Grand Theft Auto series remains the second best-selling game of all time, surpassed only by Minecraft with its 300 million units sold.
