Ian Spriggs Unveils a New Photorealistic 3D Portrait

The creator utilized Maya, Mudbox, and V-Ray to set up the character.

Ian Spriggs, a world-renowned 3D Character Artist and creator of photorealistic digital humans, has blown the Internet's collective mind once again by showcasing a fantastic new portrait that could easily be mistaken for a photograph at first glance.

Meet Eddy, an extremely-lifelike 3D character model made using the artist's usual combination of 3D software, comprising Autodesk Maya and Mudbox, which were used for modeling and texturing, respectively, Chaos' V-Ray, used for rendering, and Adobe Photoshop, used for touch-ups. The author also notes that the new portrait is powered by NVIDIA's new RTX tech, which is fitting, considering that Ian himself is one of the company's RTX Ambassadors.
