Lethal Company Adds the Most Hilarious Arachnophobia Mode Ever

The option makes the in-game arachnids resemble Garry's Mod's ERROR model.

If you, for some inexplicable reason, are afraid of spiders and decided to try out a horror game where those eight-legged crawlers are a major source of fear, you'll be pleased to know that the Zeekerss team recently released the Version 45 update for Lethal Company, a Unity-powered co-op survival horror game, adding the most hilarious Arachnophobia Mode to date.

Instead of giving the game's arachnids a less threatening in-game appearance, as many other game developers do with their Arachnophobia Modes, the team decided to replace the spiders with crawling text that spells out "spider," giving the creatures a look reminiscent of Garry's Mod's iconic ERROR models. Do keep in mind, though, that while they look like they're bugged, the text spiders retain the abilities of the originals and can still kill you if you're not careful enough.

Here's how that looks in the actual game:

As for the Version 45 update itself, the team stylized the patch notes as a short rhyme and:

"Added chemistry flasks and dramatic Masks, nutcrackers with guns and spray paint cans for funs.

Rail cheese has been nearly destroyed, but the forest giant is easier to avoid.

Added to radar boosters the "flash" command, and the ship's new "signal translator" will be in great demand.

Keybind settings are in, and I gave the item delivery ship a jolly spin.

Gravity is more dangerous, but improved Mansion map generations will be good for us.

Arachnophobia mode will ease your fear, and I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year."

I just have to say that I LOVE this bit of sentence so much: "If you, for some inexplicable reason, are afraid of spiders..."  Yes! Exactly!
I don't even play video games. I stumbled on this article because it has the word "arachnophobia" in the title.
I am a spider ecologist (I study spiders), and I do a lot of spider education, spending tons of time showing people why they do NOT need to be terrified of spiders.  So your "inexplicable reason" sentence just made me so happy!
It's so cool that the developers make a less scary "arachnophobia mode", since arachnophobia is a real thing, and is the most common phobia in the U.S.! And these word-spiders are perfect, and also hilarious!
