No connection to Crystal Dynamics' 2020 Marvel's Avengers.
If the success of Marvel Rivals has managed to revitalize your interest in the legendary comic book series and left you craving more, you'll be pleased to know that, according to recent reports, a new game centered on the franchise's most iconic superhero team, The Avengers, appears to be in the works.
NetEase
As stated by Daniel "DanielRPK" Richtman – an industry insider who previously correctly reported that the Borderlands movie would be terrible before its release – in a Patreon post first spotted by Comic Basics, Marvel is reportedly interested in further expanding its IPs into the gaming world and is producing a brand-new The Avengers game.
Although the information about the project is as scarce as scarce gets, with even the game's developer's identity yet to be disclosed, the insider did confirm that the new title will not be connected to Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix's Marvel's Avengers, a 2020 online live-service multiplayer game that didn't meet the expectations and was a disappointment to its developers, getting discontinued in 2023 and currently holding an appalling 3.4/10 rating.
Please note that even though the reports began to appear only recently, the original Patreon post was shared a few weeks prior to Marvel Rivals' launch, so it would be unfair to suggest that Marvel is simply trying to capitalize on the success of NetEase's project. It is also unknown whether this The Avengers title is connected in any way to the rumored video game set in the MCU that insider MyTimeToShineHello reported on in October 2024.
Previously, Daniel Richtman also shared that more games about Indiana Jones might be in development. You can learn more by clicking this link.
