Some crucial details got lost in translation.
Yesterday, numerous gaming outlets reported that game development studio NCSoft had halted the development of its MMO game set in the Horizon universe and reassigned its developers to other projects, citing ResetEra's translation/recap of an original report shared by a Korean news website MTN. While this speculation seemed plausible and grounded in reality in light of Sony's recent cancellations of live-service games, it turns out those headlines about a "Canceled Horizon MMO" were nothing but conjecture, as the project described in the original report had no connection to Guerrilla's game series.

Less than 24 hours later, however, it became clear that Project H was not what it was reported to be, thanks to the simplest of investigations conducted by a user from Ruliweb, a Korean gaming community. Brought to light by magicsgram on Reddit, the Ruliweb user reached out directly to Seo Jeong-geun, the author of the MTN article, to clarify whether Project H and the Horizon MMO were one and the same.
The journalist was surprised by the hasty speculations of his Western counterparts, stating that the "H" mentioned in his report "has nothing to do with Horizon," meaning that, as of now, there are still two upcoming GAAS Horizon titles in development: the Horizon MMO and Guerrilla's own online live-service game.
While the Horizon MMO is still in development, Sony has already shut down multiple live-service titles, including The Last of Us Online, Spider-Man: The Great Web, unnamed projects from Deviation Games and London Studio, Twisted Metal, Destiny spin-off from Bungie, Concord, and the two games from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games, a track record that suggests that even though NCSoft's project hasn't been canceled, it's not unreasonable to add "just yet" to that statement.
Speaking of live-service titles, recently we spotted a job vacation on Blizzard's Careers website, which strongly hints that the studio's mysterious open-world shooter game might follow a live-service model.
