Davide Gordon explained why he prefers Marmoset Toolbag over Substance 3D Painter for Normal Map Baking.
For 3D Artist Davide Gordon, Marmoset Toolbag's option to paint custom cage distances that update live, especially for tight areas, along with the ability to create and assign bake groups for exploded baking, make it his go-to software for texture baking.
These features have long been available in Marmoset Toolbag but are still missing in Substance 3D Painter. Davide Gordon noted that while he's aware of the mesh name function in 3D Painter, it's not as powerful as Marmoset's bake groups. Marmoset Toolbag can automatically create groups if meshes are named correctly, offering more flexibility and saving time, especially with complex characters.
