Renowned Goldfish Simulator App Gets Upgraded Underwater Plants

Masataka Hakozaki showcased Ryukin's updated plant movement mechanics.

Indie Game Developer and creator of Ryukin, a Unity-powered goldfish simulator launched earlier this year, Masataka Hakozaki has once again treated us to a satisfying behind-the-scenes demo showcasing the app's upgraded underwater plants.

According to Masataka, Ryukin's latest update introduced taller aquatic plants, which required a complete revamp of their movement setups. In the demo, the developer presented the redesigned swinging mechanics, which allow the plants to move around when touched by the fish. The final effect was achieved using Compute Shaders in Unity, as noted by Masataka.
