Don't... Don't give me hope.
As exciting as Bethesda's official acknowledgement of Oblivion Remastered is, the studio's enigmatic "Tomorrow announcement" has raised more questions than it answered. What's actually going to happen tomorrow (or today, depending on your location)? Will it be a teaser trailer? A detailed look at the remaster's new features and changes? Or could the game actually be launching on April 22, 2025? Sadly, none of those questions were answered by the ominous Imperial Guard staring back at you from the announcement poster.
Attempting to soothe the anxiety surrounding Oblivion Remastered, MP1st has joined the chorus of speculation with a new report adding to the growing list of possible release dates. Citing their sources, the outlet claims the game will be shadow-dropped alongside its official reveal on April 22 at 11 AM ET – meaning that, in less than 12 hours, the remaster could finally launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, including a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass.
Adding weight to the claim is the fact that MP1st was among the first to report on Oblivion Remastered’s existence back in January, and eXtas1s – one of the most credible industry insiders – "100% confirming" that the release will take place during the upcoming streaming announcement.
Trusted insiders and reputable outlets with under-the-hood access are certainly valuable, but at this point, it's crucial to stay level-headed and approach all reports with a healthy dose of skepticism. Over the past few months, various sources have claimed that Oblivion Remastered could be announced and/or released in January 2025 – a claim also made by eXtas1s, by the way – as well as in early April, on April 21, April 24, and even in June 2025, just to name a few.
That's not to say insiders are spreading disinformation or intentionally muddying the Waters of Oblivion even further, but rather to emphasize that Bethesda could've shifted the dates behind the scenes more times than we can count, thus rendering the previously-credible reports inaccurate. With that in mind, taking any rumored date as gospel is a good way to end up more anxious than excited, so for the sake of your own sanity, it's best to wait for the official word.
As for the "unofficial word," recently, leaker Kran27 revealed that Oblivion Remastered will have a file size of 120GB – roughly 22 times larger than the 5.52GB size of the original game and its Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles DLCs put together. Additionally, over the weekend, the community discovered what seems to be Oblivion Remastered's SteamDB page, though it currently shows little more than a blank slate.
