Team Fortress 2 Classic & Open Fortress Mods Go Back Online

After hearing nothing from Valve, the teams decided to share the mods again.

Team Fortress 2 Classic and Open Fortress teams announced the return of their mods due to a lack of response from Valve.

In 2021, Valve contacted both mods' developers asking them to take down their creations as they are based on the leaked source code from 2008. The mods were supposed to be uploaded to Steam, but neither TF2 Classic nor Open Fortress has heard from Valve since.

TF2 Classic developers said they'd tried to reach the company in various ways but got no reaction. The same happened to Open Fortress, so both developers decided to get the mods back online.

"We waited, thinking that they would eventually get back to us, but they never did," shared Open Fortress. "We have now taken it upon ourselves to bring the game back."

What Valve did finally respond to was the fans' peaceful protests surrounding Team Fortress 2's bot issues. Let's hope the mods' developers won't have to wait for 2 years too.

TF2 Classic features the content from the early development of the original game as well as community-made content.

Open Fortress introduces new game modes, weapons, characters, and maps, featuring classic arena FPS games "and the creativity and innovation of the Source engine modding community."
