To spend $70 on a game and then be asked to get the Tekken Fight Pass doesn't seem fair.

During the Tekken Talk stream, the Tekken 8 developers announced the Tekken Fight Pass – what looks like a battle pass with cosmetic items. As described by MP1st, "during the specified period, players can increase their level by completing daily and weekly missions in online matches, allowing them to obtain various items." So yes, a battle pass.
Naturally, players were not thrilled to hear that. Just a reminder: the game costs $70 and already has a Season Pass for the character DLCs and an in-game store. Now, you'll have more ways to spend money if you don't know what to do with it.

It doesn't even matter how much the Fight Pass will be, the power of money vacuuming is strong in this one.
"I personally purchased/pre-ordered ultimate edition believing I would get all the DLC content with the season pass," one player said. "They were dishonest and lied, they always knew there was going to be a Tekken shop and battle pass but yet spoon-fed it to the community because they knew there would have been backlash if they told us from the beginning. Absolute scum bags. These business practices are rotten to the core but it seems a lot of people are happy to bend over and allow themselves to get their back doors smashed in by corporate greed."
"Disappointed," added another. "Would have never bought the Collector’s Edition had I known that you guys would patch in a microtransaction shop AND Battle Passes. At least Street Fighter 6 had the decency to say this upfront. You should be ashamed."
On X/Twitter, the Chief Producer of Tekken and Bandai Namco Esports, Yasuda Esports, clarified that the Fight Pass can be purchased with 600 Tekken Coins, "but you can earn a total of 600 TC by unlocking all levels. If you are going to play it for a long time, please get it." So I guess it's marketed as a one-time solution that will then be self-bought if you play enough.
Whatever the case, I'd expect something like this from a free-to-play game, like Overwatch 2, but a $70 experience should come equipped with everything already.
