The Callisto Protocol Devs Confirm the December 2 Release Date

The Callisto Protocol developer Striking Distance dispelled the rumors about the game's delay assuring fans that it will launch as planned, on December 2. In addition, the studio shared that the title will have a 60 FPS performance mode.

Striking Distance Studios, the developer behind the upcoming The Callisto Protocol, commented on rumors about the possible delay of the survival horror video game saying that the title will be released as planned, on December 2.

The rumor that the game might be delayed appeared when Epic Games revealed its Epic's Halloween Sale which listed The Callisto Protocol as available starting February 12, 2023. The information was first spotted by ResetEra user AshenOne and later went viral.

While some people suggested that probably Epic Games might have learned some inside information and accidentally shared it in their Halloween Sale post, others believed that it might have been a mistake as other store pages, including Epic Game Store, still listed the game as coming out on December 2.

Today, Striking Distance took to Twitter to dispel the rumors and confirm that The Callisto Protocol will launch on December 2. So, the game's February 2023 release date on Epic's Halloween Sale simply might have been an error.

In addition to confirming the release date, the developer also shared that the game will feature a 60 FPS performance mode. The studio did not specify which consoles will have an option for 60 FPS, but, most likely, it concerns PS5 and Xbox Series XlS.

Interestingly, the information about The Callisto Protocol's performance comes just a few days after WB Montreal revealed that its upcoming Gotham Knights, which will be released this week, won't have a performance mode and will be locked at 30 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series XlS. The news that WB Montreal shared just a week before the game's launch caused a number of players to cancel their pre-orders for the console versions of the game.
