This Tractor Tire Simulation Set Up in Unity Is Surprisingly Satisfying

You'll love it.

An artist known as Lancaster showed off a nice soft body tire simulation made for a 3D tractor in Unity. Redditors really appreciated the satisfying view, although some didn't quite agree on one definition of a soft body.

Whatever your opinion is, Lancaster's goal was tire deformation "and not any metal or plastic deform. These wheels behave like real physical tires and emulate internal pressure." It needed to be "as simple as possible and look as real as possible."

The artist used colliders inside the wheel that were connected to each other. The soft body effect was achieved with customizable forces in the connections. For steering, they used a configurable joint and two separated rigid bodies.

You can also find a Star Wars-inspired hover bike on Lancaster's Reddit page, also well received by Redditors, and we hope this success will lead to more projects by the creator.
