Vampire Survivors to Get an Animated TV Adaptation

The game's creator Luca Galante is partnering with Story Kitchen to produce the upcoming show.

Vampire Survivors, Luca "poncle" Galante's 2022 action roguelike game with bullet-hell and gothic horror elements, is reportedly getting a TV adaptation in a form of an animated series, as reported by Deadline.

According to the report, the game's creator is partnering with Story Kitchen, a recently-established media firm, created by Sonic the Hedgehog film producer Dmitri Johnson and John Wick writer Derek Kolstad, which is currently working on It Takes Two film and TV series adaptationsDisco Elysium and Life Is Strange shows, and a Tomb Raider TV series, to produce the upcoming TV series.

At the moment, the details regarding the possible show are quite scarce, with the report only noting that the TV adaptation of Vampire Survivors is at its earliest stages of development, while the team is looking for a writer to join the production crew. Once complete, the series is set to be "shopped to animated TV network buyers."

"The most important thing in Vampire Survivors is the story, so it's a dream come true to see what started as a little indie game I made on my weekends come to life as an animated TV show," commented Galante. "It's also great to be partnering up with such experienced and talented people to make the show. I do wonder if they've realized that there isn't a single vampire in Vampire Survivors, though."

"When our Head of Creative, Dan Jevons, flagged Vampire Survivors for us last year upon its initial release, we were prepared to dismiss it as just another vampire game," commented Story Kitchen Co-Founder Dmitri M. Johnson. "Hundreds of hours played later, we were all hooked, and we just could not get enough! Needless to say, we're truly honored to partner with this incredible team and to continue the Vampire Survivors' story!"

It was also reported earlier that the developer is not planning to create a sequel for VS, with Galante explaining that thanks to the success of the current DLC plan, the possibility of a hypothetical sequel to the game is "unlikely", so it seems that the upcoming adaptation might be our only chance to get the continuation of the story.
