All the information at your fingertips, literally.
Software engineer and augmented reality enthusiast Stijn Spanhove demonstrated a great proof of concept allowing him to watch cycling competitions like Tour de France from basically anywhere in AR.
The setup includes not only the video feed of the race but also information about its participants and the view of the track on the map. You can manipulate the pieces, zoom in or out, and rotate the whole scene, watching your favorite sportsperson get through the ups and downs of the path.
The whole thing runs on the web and can be used with Meta Quest 3 and Apple's Vision Pro. Spanhove utilized React Three Fiber's XR package, the BlenderGIS add-on to get the geographic data, Python scripts to transform it into a usable format, and Google's satellite images and height maps to make the terrain.
