Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Features Secret 60 FPS Mode

Preparing for Nintendo Switch 2?

Nintendo

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition has just been released for Nintendo Switch, but inquisitive modder hands couldn't stay away from its code for long, so we already learned an interesting detail about the game.

Modder MasaGrator found that its executable file has a hidden 60 FPS mode, which doesn't work right and "causes weird issues" (via Wccftech): "Gameplay is rendered every second frame, so even though it outputs 60 FPS you get in fact 30 usable frames. Cutscenes sometimes are working fine, sometimes some objects are jittering like hardcoded to be 30 FPS, sometimes it's again every second frame rendered."

Did Nintendo just fail to implement the upgrade? Perhaps, although doubtful. A more curious conclusion is that Xenoblade Chronicles X is getting ready for Nintendo Switch 2, which will allegedly enable more frames with its additional power.

When will it happen? Hopefully, the company will share more details during the upcoming Nintendo Direct conference on April 2, 2025. A former Nintendo employee supposes Nintendo is eyeing June 2025 for the launch. For now, analysts expect the console to cost $400
