You Can Finally Hide Games on Steam Beta

Valve also delivered a decent shopping cart.

This day has come: you can finally hide your dirty little secrets on Steam so your friends don't judge your preferences.

Steam Client Beta users now have an option to make their games private, hiding their guilty pleasures from friends and acquaintances – an ability that should have been there from day one if you ask me.

"Starting today you’ll be able to mark specific games as private and they’ll disappear from anywhere they’d be viewed by someone other than you. That includes: your ownership, in-game status, playtime, and activity in that game. This additional control allows you to keep most of your Steam Library visible to your friends, so they can see what you are playing and join in, yet also keep a few of those games just to yourself."

You can mark your games as private from your shopping cart, your game list, and your Steam Client Library.

Before hiding your games, you need to buy them, and Valve has improved this experience as well. You can buy Christmas presents for all your friends at the same time without having to make multiple purchases. Additionally, your shopping cart will now follow you across all devices.

Overall, purchasing games has become much easier. You put a title into your cart and choose to continue shopping instead of going to the checkout immediately.

To participate in the Steam beta, you need to choose this option in Settings – Interface and restart the app. Thus, you'll get access to the latest features Valve has in mind for players.
