A Surreal 1980s Real-Time Survival Deckbuilder With Live-Action Video

SPELLHACK!! is a solo project from Computer Dream and is now available with a special offer.

Reddit user NastyPasta, aka indie developer Computer Dream, has just relased their first game on Steam, which Unity game called SPELLHACK!!, It is a surreal 1980s real-time survival deckbuilder with live-action video.

"I pitch the gameplay like Slay the Spire meets Plants vs Zombies, where you have to think quick to survive against waves of enemies," the developer said. A day has been divided into day and night, each twelve hours. During the day, you'll need to explore Doom City to collect new Technospells and upgrade them, while at night, try to survive amongst waves of Summoned Beasts attacks.

The game offers more than 150 Technospells to collect and equip, over 50 Summoned Beasts to repel, as well as large amounts of items to collect and events to encounter. Also, there is a Challenge Mode with five levels to test your skills.

According to the creator, he has spent around three years and a half into the project and almost solo developed it besides the SFX and music. Working in the film industry, the indie developer's daytime job is as a cinematographer, but he is also a passionate gamer with a love for Deckbuilder. He's created SPELLHACK!! with the desire to make a game that mixes his abilities with game development. He talked about the game's inspiration in this interview and how it is actually a game within a game:

There is a demo version on Steam for you to try. It includes half a normal-length run, a hint of the story, and a fraction of the content of the full game.

SPELLHACK!! is now offering a 20% discount on Steam. Don't hesitate to have a look if it has piqued your interest.
