Plus more references shot for the series.
Arcane fans received a juicy bone when its artbook came out, but it's never enough when it comes to the beloved series. Thankfully, Fortiche and Riot Games keep giving, and we now have a chance to peek at the references and rigging done for the show, thanks to a 1.5-hour breakdown posted on the Agora.Community YouTube channel.
Aside from the different emotions on Vi's face shown in Maya, you can also see various artistic decisions made by the artists in order to demonstrate more expression and talk to the viewer better. They thought about the tiniest of details like shoulder placements and even nose positions to make sure we got the best possible version.

I'm sure you've been impressed by some little ticks in Arcane characters' movement at least once, and their realism was achieved thanks to the artists' many reference shots. We've seen scenes with Sevika and Jinx before, and this video adds to the collection with Jayce, Viktor, Vi, and other Champions.

You should definitely watch the whole breakdown, whether you're an Arcane fan or an artist, it will surely be useful.
One change you've noticed for sure was Jinx getting rid of her braids – a design decision meant to not only send a message but also tackle a technical issue. I can't imagine what the rigging for the long-haired version looked like.
With Arcane makers sharing their behind-the-scenes shenanigans, I wouldn't be surprised if we got more artists and animators in the near future, despite the layoffs in the industry.
