The actors in the game are "special partners" for him.
Hideo Kojima has revealed that he chooses actors for his projects himself and explained how this choice is made.
In a recent tweet, Kojima shared that he had done the casting for Death Stranding 2 himself, without involving agencies. Although he asks agents to help during the contract stage, he wants to have a special connection with actors and voice actors since he would be spending a very long time working with them.
"Various problems occur frequently in filming, voice recording, and game creation. Corrections and changes in plans are a daily occurrence. I have chosen DS2 actors and actresses as special partners with whom I can fight together," he said.
Kojima mentioned the criteria used for casting. Apparently, it's not only about their voice quality, acting, and suitability for the character; their "balance with other characters and their chemical reactions to each other on the set" are also very important.
"Since we don't pick the cast by pinpoint, the chemistry between the cast members and the atmosphere they create on the set are more important than anything else."
It looks like we can expect impressive quality from Death Stranding 2, at least in this regard. Unfortunately, there is not much else we know for sure.
