CONSCRIPT, a top-down survival horror game set during the WWI era, has finally been released for PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.
Created by Jordan Mochi, the game has gained an impressive audience in the 7 years of development, surpassing 70,000 wishlists on Steam in 2023.

"In CONSCRIPT, you play as a French soldier searching for his missing-in-action brother during the Battle of Verdun. Will you be able to search twisted trenches, navigate overrun forts, and cross no-mans-land to find him, and ensure a home goes unbroken?"

The developer promises "punishing mechanics of older horror games" and a replayable experience with multiple endings, unlockable costumes, and various weapons.
The game's level design promotes item management and route planning and urges you to challenge its complex environmental puzzles.

Critics who have already gotten a chance to feel CONSCRIPT's dark atmosphere mostly appreciated it: the horror has a score of 78 on Metacritic at the moment. They noted its Resident Evil vibes and said that while it might not really scare you, it's a solid addition to the genre, albeit with its own drawbacks.
