LogInKang Min and Yoo Hyeon Tak utilized Blender, Substance 3D, and Unreal Engine to cook the delectable digital dishes.
Inspired by Makoto Shinkai's 2019 animated film Weathering With You, this collaborative project was completed in over three months, with Yoo handling materials, lighting, and rendering and Kang responsible for everything else. The goal of the project was to "recreate the warm emotions and visually delightful moments from the movie, including the scenes where Hina presented dishes like potato chip fried rice," with Kang planning to recreate Hina's entire house from the film.
In terms of software, the duo utilized ZBrush, Blender, Substance 3D Painter/Designer, Marmoset Toolbag, and Unreal Engine to model and texture the dishes, simulate the liquids and cushions, and set up the vibrant lighting.
