Flaming Fowl Studios, an indie developer founded by Lionhead Studios veterans, is another studio that faces financial difficulties. During the announcement of their cooperative turn-based RPG, Ironmarked, the studio revealed that the project would be put on hold due to lack of funding. However, they are hopeful that the release of a demo will generate interest and potential funding opportunities.

"Today we are releasing a demo of Ironmarked, a new game we have been working on recently," Flaming Fowl said. "Unfortunately, due to the current lack of funding in the games industry, we are putting production on hold and have had to downsize the studio, letting go of some amazing people."

In a recent interview with VGC, CEO Craig Oman shared that Ironmarked was dropped by its publisher the previous summer. Despite efforts to find a new partner, over 30 publishers declined to collaborate, citing a reluctance to engage in deals at the moment, despite praising the game and team.

Oman noted that the budget for Ironmarked, set at £5 million, may have deterred potential partners who favored smaller or higher-cost projects. Consequently, Flaming Fowl Studios downsized its team from 30 to 9 creators.

"Although this is a difficult and sad time for everyone involved, we are very proud of what we were creating and want to share that with all of you. We also hope that by releasing this demo, we can help those people leaving us to secure new roles elsewhere, by demonstrating their outstanding work on the project."
