The first Pentium was released almost 30 years ago.
Intel has announced that the Pentium and Celeron brands will be replaced by Intel Processor starting from 2023 notebooks. The new branding should make it easier for users to choose the right laptop. Now, Intel is going to focus on the Core, Evo, and vPro brands.
“Intel is committed to driving innovation to benefit users, and our entry-level processor families have been crucial for raising the PC standard across all price points. The new Intel Processor branding will simplify our offerings so users can focus on choosing the right processor for their needs,” said Josh Newman, Intel vice president and interim general manager of Mobile Client Platforms.
This marks the end of the 30-year-long Pentium era: the first microprocessor was released in 1993, with Celeron arriving about five years later.
