LG Announced Its First Bendable OLED TV

The 42-inch monitor can be set flat or curved with a press of a button.

LG has announced its first bendable 42-inch OLED TV – LG OLED Flex (model LX3). The display can go from flat to curved (up to 900R) with a press of a dedicated button on the remote control or can be manually changed in five percent increments over 20 different levels.

LG definitely tries to appeal to gamers, with LX3's support for Dolby Vision gaming at 4K 120Hz and the latest HDMI 2.1 features, such as variable refresh rate (VRR) and auto low latency mode (ALLM). It also supports NVIDIA's G-SYNC and AMD's FreeSync technologies to reduce tearing and stuttering.

You can adjust the size of the onscreen image, reducing the image to 32 or 27 inches. The new Game app available for the monitor supports custom screensavers, offers shortcuts to popular apps, and provides a list of connected external input devices. Revamped for LG OLED Flex, Gaming Optimizer adds customized sound settings for specific game genres to its picture and audio options.

There is also a Multi View mode, which allows you to view content from two different sources simultaneously and select which audio you want to hear.

You can use LG OLED Flex’s built-in microphone and any devices connected via its USB ports with a PC connected by an HDMI cable to switch device connection back and forth between PC and the TV by pressing a button.

The form factor of the LG OLED Flex is made possible by LG’s backlight-free, self-lit OLED technology. The monitor provides accurate colors (100% color fidelity certified), 0.1 millisecond response time, and low input lag in any position. The company promises "outstanding" eye comfort and reduced visual distractions.

You might feel this concept looks familiar, and you'd be right: just last week, Corsair revealed its own bendable monitor XENEON FLEX made in partnership with LG Display, although that one needs to be adjusted manually.
