NVIDIA Launches the Extend the Omniverse Contest

Developers, engineers, technical artists, hobbyists, and researchers can take part in the contest to develop Python tools for 3D worlds.

NVIDIA has announced its first NVIDIA Omniverse contest for developers, engineers, technical artists, hobbyists, and researchers to develop Python tools for 3D worlds.

To participate in the contest, you'll have to build the Omniverse Extension using Omniverse Kit (a toolkit for building native Omniverse applications and microservice) and Omniverse Code, the Omniverse application that serves as an integrated development environment for developers.

The organizers offer participants to create Python extensions in one of the three categories:

  • Layout and scene authoring tools (the tools help scale workflows for world-building, leveraging rules-based algorithms and AI to generate assets procedurally);
  • Omni.ui with Omniverse Kit (creating flexible graphical user interfaces in the Kit extensions);
  • Scene modifier and manipulator tools (developing 3D widgets and manipulators to create and move shapes in a 3D projected scene with Python using omni.ui.scene).

The contest will run from July 11 to August 19, 2022. The overall winner will get an NVIDIA RTX A6000, and the runners-up in each category will be awarded a GeForce RTX 3090 Ti.
