Oculus Quest 2 Updated

Meta has updated Quest 2 to version 37, adding Apple's Magic Keyboard support, link sharing, a hand-tracked gesture for common actions, and more.

Oculus Quest has been updated to v37. The new version features Apple's Magic Keyboard support, it allows not only using the keyboard but also viewing a 3D representation of both the keyboard and your hands in your Home environment. The keyboard can be set up under the Experimental Features.

The update allows users to share links from the phone to the headset via the Oculus Mobile App. This feature is currently available to Android users only, but the developers promise to add it to iOS in the near future.

The Quest interface has also been upgraded. Now, all 2D panels will open in either Tablet or Desktop mode. Tablet mode displays your 2D panels in a single, close-up window to make it easier to focus on one task. Desktop mode functions like the 2D panels the users are used to – larger, further away, repositionable, and good for multitasking. The creators hope that such a change will bring more consistency to the Quest interface and will make it easier to navigate between apps or move from task to task.

The update also introduces a handy hand-tracked gesture to quickly get to common actions in the Quick Action Menu. To activate the shortcut menu, you just need to hold your hand palm-up and make a pinching motion. This feature is supposed to make it easier to take screenshots, activate voice commands, and more.

In addition, Meta updated the Explore page – a hub where you can discover what you can do with Oculus Quest and what’s going on in VR. Now, you’ll be able to see what your friends are doing, follow up on anything you’ve saved from your phone, and how to use Quest for both work and workouts in the Fitness and Productivity sections.
