PlayStation 3 and Vita Development Kits Demonstrated

YouTube channel Linus Tech Tips has demonstrated the insides of PS3 devkit and an early prototype of PS Vita.

Sixteen years after the release of a now-legendary PlayStation 3, we finally have a chance to see one of the earliest prototypes of the console, thanks to the YouTube channel Linus Tech Tips.

In a new video, the channel's creator Linus Sebastian has demonstrated DECR-1000A, a PS3 development kit that functions just like the regular version of the console but is 2ft wide, weighs 40 pounds, and for some reason, can run Gears of War 3, an Xbox exclusive. The creator demonstrated the prototype's insides, compared them to PS3's release version, and played dev build versions of Life is Strange and Little Big Plane on it.

What's more, Linus also showed an early prototype version of PlayStation Vita that requires the PS3 devkit to function. The prototype looks just like a motherboard attached to a screen, but according to YouTuber's demonstration, it does indeed work if it is plugged into a devkit that emulates Vita's hardware.

We highly recommend visiting Linus' YouTube channel if you are interested in console and PC hardware. Also, don't forget to join our new Reddit pageour new Telegram channel, follow us on Instagram and Twitter, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
