This week we would like to highlight a vibrant city space artwork by Aritra Chaklader. The Parkour City portrays a city built using unreal engine that showcases a concept game's focus on lighting and composition.

Parkour City environment was initially designed for a single shot, with a fixed camera angle. The placement of walkable paths and buildings focused more on the game's concept, taking into consideration composition and lighting, rather than creating an interactive environment. It took a week for Aritra to update the static piece of artwork to an interactive one with the challenge to enclose the area, add objects and buildings of interest and set dressing further and keep every angle and shot with a good composition.

"Creating Parkour City was a fun but challenging experience for me. The initial iteration was a static concept image created for an art challenge submission (by Games Factory Talent and Savage Game Studio) and it won 3rd Place. The main focus was lighting and composition, and having fun vibrant orange and soothing green colors. Working after hours, and as the deadline neared, the asset packs from SimPoly Town by PolyArt3D and Assetsville Town by Assetsville sped things up by having great modular stylized models. With Lumen giving interactive cinematic lighting and Nanite making optimization easier, modifying the asset pack and setting the scene was a breeze. It took 2-3 days to create the static image.” stated the artist.
