Some consider Star Citizen to be just another big bubble, that is about to burst. But there’s also a lot of people, who believe that it just might actually work. To prove the skeptics wrong and support the fans a couple of days ago Chris Roberts actually revealed the actual gameplay footage from the WIP build of the game. It looks really, really interesting.

One of the most staggering facts about the game is the sheer scope of things. You’ve got talks with the team on the ship, you’ve got briefings, you’ve got space combat, you’ve got close quarters FPS combat, plus there’s exploration and just so much other stuff to do.

The other thing is how this whole thing looks. As you know, Star Citizen was originally created with CryEngine, but then it was moved to Lumberyard, which essentially had the same Crytek’s render with some Amazon Cloud services. The tech definitely holds up and shows some stunning effects, beautiful lighting, volumetric clouds, destructible environments, and fantastic character work. But the coolest thing is the space itself. It truly does feel like some kind of a sci-fi novel cover.

Anyway enjoy the video and let’s hope to learn more about the way this project is being developed.
