Starfield Will Feature First-Person Dialogues and Silent Protagonist

Bethesda Game Studios confirmed that the dialogues in Starfield will take place from the first-person perspective and its main character will not be voiced.

Bethesda Game Studios has confirmed that Starfield's dialogue sequences will be first-person and the game's protagonist will not be voiced.

The developer took to Twitter to respond to some fans' concerns that the title can return to features introduced in Fallout 4 where all the dialogue scenes took place from the third-person perspective and the protagonist was fully voiced which was widely criticized by the players.

"Yes, dialogue in Starfield is first person and your character does not have a voice," Bethesda wrote.

You can check out some of the dialogues shown in a 15-minute gameplay video presented at the Xbox and Bethesda showcase. The video allows you to evaluate the quality of the facial animation of the characters and the environment's details.

The demo also revealed several mechanics of the game such as examining local creatures, mining for resources, invading a hostile base, and dealing with a group of pirates. It also provided a first look at space exploration and crafting mechanics.

According to Bethesda Game Studios' game director and executive producer Todd Howard, the game will also feature 100 systems to explore with 1000 planets players can visit.

Initially, Starfield was planned to release in the summer of 2022, although in May, Bethesda announced that it has pushed the launch of the game to the first half of 2023. The game will be available for Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X|S.
