3D Artist Turns a Chevy Van Model Into Scooby-Doo's Mystery Machine

The artist utilized Mari, Maya, and Arnold to set up the iconic vehicle.

Jordi Cortés, a talented 3D Artist and Texture/Surfacing Artist at DNEG/Redefine Barcelona, has recently celebrated the Scooby-Doo series with an impressive recreation of the Mystery Machine, the iconic vehicle used by the crew in their adventures.

Utilizing Tim Blake's Chevy Super Van model as a base, the artist enhanced it by incorporating a twin-turbo V8 engine, upgrading the brake and suspension system, installing new Michelin tires, and giving it a fresh coat of paint, making it nearly indistinguishable from the original van from the show. According to Jordi, the new details and the paint job were set up using Maya, Mari, and Arnold.

"In the world of remakes and fan service, Shaggy, Daphne, Vilma, and Fred have reunited once again to combat crime," commented Jordi on the idea behind the project. "It's 2023 and they need a vehicle up to date: fast, agile, and capable or pretty much going through all terrains so they can capture the bad guys. They also need space for a fifth member, an already old Scooby-Doo who just wants to have one last ride before his well-earned retirement."

For comparison, here's how Tim Blake's original model looks:
