Adobe Launches Substance 3D Modeler 1.3

New features include ray tracing, live booleans, and more.

Adobe has released Substance 3D Modeler 1.3, the latest version of its modeling tool, introducing new visualization features, including ray tracing, live booleans, and more.

Without ray tracing (left) & with ray tracing (right)

One of the most prominent changes is ray tracing. You can now view your scene in higher-quality ray-traced capture mode, which makes it easier to see how the scene will appear in other apps. The feature is only available in the desktop version at the moment, but Adobe is planning to add more functionality in future updates.

In addition, you can now preview boolean operations to see the results before they are applied.

Other features include the cut, copy, and paste options in the Actions menu, the ability to change the background color, official support for the VIVE XR Elite headset, improved controller support, and more.
