Check Out This Detailed 3D Model of Ghibli's Howl's Moving Castle

The model was made using Maya and Houdini.

3D Asset and Environment Artist Vitor Maccari has paid tribute to Studio Ghibli and its iconic 2004 animated film Howl's Moving Castle by showcasing a highly detailed model of the moving castle itself reimagined in 3D.

Currently WIP, the castle model looks extremely similar to the one from the original movie, featuring tons of eye-catching details, such as tiny buildings, brick walls, pipes, riveted surfaces, and so on, created by Vitor using Maya. Additionally, the author utilized Houdini to set up the roofs of the houses and the screws, as well as UVs. As stated by the artist, he plans to apply deformations to the model and pose it sometime in the future, so we highly recommend following Vitor on LinkedIn so as not to miss the upcoming updates.

Notably, this is not the first of Hayao Miyazaki's castles Vitor reimagined in 3D. Earlier, the author also celebrated Ghibli's Laputa: Castle in the Sky, bringing its robot into the 3D realm:
