Have a Look at These FromSoftware-Inspired Book Cover Illustrations

Check out a collection of FromSoftware-inspired illustrations made in the style of book covers by James Bousema.

A freelance Digital Artist James Bousema has shared a collection of illustrations made in the style of book covers. The artist takes inspiration from his favorite FromSoftware games and excellently transfers the characters onto the book pages using Photoshop.

In his most recent work, Bousema depicts Dark Souls' Knight Artorias holding his sword as if it was an illustration of an old paperback fantasy novel.

The series also includes the illustration of Elden Ring's most difficult boss Malenia which decorates an old fantasy book cover.

Another FromSoftware cover design done by the artist snaps Bloodborne which he describes as one of his all-time favorite games. The illustration for this game is made in a form of a pulp horror novel look.

The artist notes that loves to portray the characters from film, music, comics, and myth for many reasons with one of them being their "tendency to be larger than life" as they exist in a reality that is superior to ours. With his art, Bousema reflects his desire to celebrate the power behind the pop culture icons.

In his illustrations, he tries to emphasize detail, strong use of color, as well as the darker side of the characters' nature. The artist finds his major inspirations in horror films, dark fantasy, mythology, and heavy metal music.
