Arcane-Style Hand-Painted Retro Handheld Console Imagined in 3D

The asset was made with ZBrush, Blender, and Substance 3D Painter.

3D Environment Artist Kasia Ptaszynska has showcased a cool personal project infused with retro and steampunk vibes that are bound to evoke a strong urge to revisit classics like Dishonored and Bioshock Infinite.

Based on a 2D concept by IWSE Zhang, Kasia's new asset imagines a handheld console from the 1920s, featuring intricate hand-painted textures resembling Fortiche's Arcane series. To set up the model, the author opted for a standard Blender-to-ZBrush-to-Blender workflow, using Blender for tasks like base mesh creation, retopology, and UV mapping and ZBrush for high poly. Additionally, the creator utilized Substance 3D Painter and Marmoset Toolbag for texturing and rendering, respectively.
